SYSTEM "8" Pods and Insets
System "8" is an entirely new system of handholds. Something completely different. Something a lot better.

ADVANTAGES -

Super cheap! Make your own screw-on or bolt-on pods. Get big holds cheap.

Amazingly realistic. You climb on sandstone. Real, high quality sandstone. The insets are easy to use and ridiculously fun to climb on.

The "8" shape is very easy to cut into a piece of plywood by using just a hole saw. Making this shape is the key to using the realistic inset system or making your own pods to hold the insets.

System - 8 Beta program.

Welcome to the synrock system "8" beta program. The intent of the 8 system is to create a very realistic - very inexpensive climbing hold system. System 8 is an inset system or a bolt-on or screw-on system.

It is called system "8" because that is the shape of the synrock insert that makes up the part of the hold you actually hold onto.

The "8" shape is very easy to duplicate in plywood with no measuring and little skill. All you need is a hole saw.

The reason for this beta program.....

Although I am selling these 8's as part of a plastic rockpod system that you bolt on or screw-on, I realize that people can create their own pods out of wood to house the "8" inserts. So, if you have lots of time and little money, you can make a really good wall cheap. How cheap? Well for now they are free.

Why?

There are dozens of different ways of using these holds. I don't have the time to test them all and photo document the process. I will be sending out "free" holds to any one who is willing to test "applications" for the 8's. In order to get free holds, you just need to be able to do a good job documenting, testing, and explaining how it all went.

For instance - How to construct screw-on pods

So far I have made 8's to be used with 2-1/8, 3, and 4 inch hole saws (2-1/8 is a common size often used for door locks). So to use system "8" it is mandatory that you have at lest one of these hole saws.

The thickness of this system is 3/8" and 3/4" for holds that bolt or screw-on to the surface of a climbing wall. Pods to house these are constructed from 3/8" or 3/4" plywood.

For the inset system, the 8's range from 3/4" deep to 4" or more. The inset system can be configured so that you don't need access to the back of the wall. This is done by making the inset a muffin with a 3/8 inch plywood top ring piece - or screwing though the front of the wall into a wood ring glued in place 3/4 inch back from the front of the inset. There are lots of other way of using these as inserts.
